You can give guests a route from WordPress to a hotel booking engine using an ordinary booking link, or an embed where the provider explicitly supports one. The simplest starting point is a clear button that opens the hotel’s approved booking address. This guide explains that link-based setup; it does not assume a native PowerOTA WordPress plugin or promise that any supplied iframe will work.
Confirm the destination and supported method
Ask the booking provider for the current guest-facing address and the supported integration method. Open the address yourself and verify that it belongs to the intended property. Keep a record of the address, owner and review date. Do not place account logins, administrative URLs, API keys or private tokens in a public button or page.
- Use the property-approved public booking address.
- Check the hotel name and room inventory shown.
- If an embed is required, obtain the provider’s supported snippet and requirements.
Add a booking button in the WordPress editor
In the page editor, insert a Buttons block, choose an individual Button and enter a descriptive label such as “Check availability”. Set its link to the approved public booking address. Use the page preview to inspect its position and contrast before publishing. For a page-builder header, update the button destination in that builder or menu component so the same route works across the site.
- Make the label explain what the guest will do next.
- Place a booking route near relevant room information.
- Choose same-tab or new-tab behaviour intentionally and test it.
Test the website handoff on desktop and mobile
Open the preview, activate the button and confirm the destination, property identity and usable availability search. Test keyboard navigation and a real phone. If a new tab is used, confirm that guests can return to the hotel website. An observed search is only a search test; it is not evidence that payments and reservation confirmation work end to end.
- Check that no old demo or homepage URL remains in the header.
- Try room and rate links as well as the main button.
- Record the device, address and result in the test log.
Complete reservation testing through an approved process
Before treating an integration as fully tested, coordinate a reservation test with the property and provider. Use their authorised test environment or agreed test procedure. Verify payment behaviour, confirmation and receipt in the receiving system, then follow the agreed cleanup process. Do not create speculative purchases or guest reservations on a client’s live property just to test a button.
- Record a reference and the receiving reservation record.
- Test a supported failure path without charging a real guest.
- Verify what a guest receives after confirmation.
- Repeat affected checks after changing the destination or integration.

| Check | Device / browser | Expected result | Observed result | Evidence | Owner |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| WordPress booking button | Desktop | Approved property booking URL opens | |||
| Mobile handoff | Phone | Readable page and usable date controls | |||
| Reservation confirmation | Authorised test environment | Reference matches receiving record | |||
| Failed payment | Authorised test environment | No false booking confirmation |
A public booking address such as booking.somavinevillage.com can be the destination of an ordinary link. That example identifies a guest-facing website; it does not assert that a native plugin, embedded checkout or live payment test has been completed. Use the test log to distinguish each level of verification.
Put the guide into practice
WordPress documents the Buttons block and the Custom HTML block separately. Use a simple link when that meets the requirement, and use embedded code only with confirmed provider support. Ask for the exact integration to be demonstrated before launch.
